Tips for a Successful Baby Photo Shoot
It's time for your baby’s photo shoot! All those photos you have been dreaming of having of your little ones' perfect expressions can finally be captured! But…. How can we make sure we have a successful photo shoot? What can we do so it goes as smoothly as possible? These are questions many people have. So, I would like to share some tips for a successful baby photo shoot!
There is a lot that you can do before the session that will help make it a success. For example, no one likes shots! It is recommended to avoid scheduling shots for the day before or the day of your session. Shots could cause your baby to feel unwell, and you may not get the photos you were hoping for.
Also, it is a good idea to clean their face before arriving. Generally, wiping a baby’s face during the session results in red skin and can make them upset. However, I do have wipes available if we need them during the session! And it's always a good idea to bring a burp cloth because drool and spit up happen!
Another good tip for a baby photo shoot is to try not to schedule your session at the same time as your baby’s nap time. Arriving with a well-rested baby will give us the best chance at a happy baby. Then we get all those smiles that light up a room! Full bellies also tend to be a reason to smile. So make sure the little one has a nice full belly before the session. And if you have a bit of a drive to the studio, consider giving them a snack as soon as you arrive.
One last tip that can be overlooked sometimes is about your baby’s outfit. If you will not be using my Studio Wardrobe (which is available for any session with me) be sure to try on baby’s new outfit before arriving, to ensure that it fits properly. You want to make sure that it looks as you remember or imagined it, and that it fits right so the baby is comfortable. We want everyone to be happy with the session.
