How to Choose the Right Newborn Photographer
Getting your newborns photos taken is such a special time! But there is a lot to consider to make sure you and your family have the best experience possible. Maybe you have asked yourself 'which photographer should I choose?' Here are a few tips on how to choose the right newborn photographer to ensure that you all can enjoy this special time.
Let's start with the style of photos you are interested in. Everyone has a style they like, and each photographer has their own style they specialize in. So it's a good idea to take a look at the photographers website and be sure that their style matches what you are looking for. For example, if you love props, but don't see any used in the photos on their website, maybe it's not the right fit.
Selecting a photographer that offers the type of session you are interested in will also help in making everyone comfortable and happy with the final photos taken. There are pros to both in-home sessions and studio sessions. For example… Some pros to an in-home session are that it takes place in the comfort of your home, and you get to incorporate your own environment into your gallery. Some pros of a studio session are that you don’t have to worry about cleaning your home, the studio will already be at the right temperature (warm!) so you don't have to crank your heat, and the photographer likely has many of the items needed for your session. My studio is full-service…. I provide everything from hair and makeup (if you choose), to a full Wardrobe of clothing to choose from, and all the wraps, blankets, headbands, and everything else we will need for your session.
Another important part of how to choose the right newborn photographer, is to make sure you choose a photographer with experience handling newborn babies. This may seem like a no brainer to some, but it is SO important. At this age your baby is so precious and fragile! Booking a photographer who does not specialize in newborns may lead to an uncomfortable session, because they may not be at ease holding and soothing your baby. It might be tempting to just hire your wedding photographer or someone you know to photograph this next milestone, but take a look through their portfolio to be sure they have experience with this type of session.
One last piece to consider is the price. Does this photographer fit your budget? This time in your life involves many new expenses. Does the photographer offer payment plans or a way to break up the cost of the session? This can be key when choosing the right newborn photographer.
I hope these tips will help you in figuring out how to choose the right newborn photographer for you and your family! And that you can all have a wonderful time and beautiful photographs to enjoy for years to come!
